About Us

Huseman Consulting Engineers

We strive to design, coordinate, and engineer products that fulfill the owner’s intent, improve the community and safeguard the public. HCE’s flagship products are the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) designs for buildings and construction. HCE finds the optimal solution, congruously works with construction teams and remains aware of costs, schedules, and reliability. HCE is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado with a completed NCEES record to expedite licensing in additional states.

HCE looks to improve MEP equipment to meet conservation codes that improve energy bills while being conscious of the limitations and personnel available to upkeep the equipment. HCE designs buildings with cooling units that are 20-30 % more efficient (cheaper to run) than what was typically installed 20 years ago. HCE designs efficient LED solutions for lighting, which can have payback periods of less than a year in heavily lit areas.

HCE looks to bring field experience to construction documents. Utilizing a history of multi-discipline, international high-pressure systems (20,000 psi) from subsea drilling wells, experience designing tools and automation capable of lifting 3 million pounds, electrical control systems from NASA research, and troubleshooting blowout prevention systems globally.

Our Team

Joseph Edison Huseman, PE – Engineer & Owner

Joseph leads MEP projects ranging from K-12 educational institutions, athletic facilities, churches, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings. Joseph has led multi-disciplinary, international design teams and has field experience as a subsea engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, Aruba, and Singapore. Before oil and gas and construction engineering, Joseph worked at NASA Johnson Space Center, worked with astronauts’ Primary Life Support Systems (spacesuits), represented the USA for space development in Russia, and conducted research at Rice University in simulated zero gravity.

Joseph is a published, patented, and licensed mechanical and electrical engineer, and one of only 55 dually licensed mechanical and electrical engineers in Texas. Joseph received his B.S from Rice University and his M.S. from Georgia Tech. Joseph grew up in Canyon, TX and moved back home to start Huseman Consulting Engineers, LLC in 2017.

Trevor Ferril, EIT – EIT Designer

Trevor leads the drafting and verification of MEP projects ranging from K-12 educational institutions, athletic facilities, churches, and commercial buildings. Trevor has collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams on research and design projects as an undergraduate. Prior to HCE, Trevor previously worked with logistical support for a summer educational camp for high school students focusing on engineering and technology.

Trevor is a certified engineer-in-training in Texas. Trevor received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University. Trevor grew up in Amarillo, TX, moved to Canyon, TX in 2006, and returned to Amarillo in 2019, where he has lived since.
